Truth or Folly Exhibition
Fractured Land Collective are back !
TRUTH OR FOLLY
Wycombe Museum, High Wycombe
17 March 2026 – 28 February 2027
Following the success of their 2024 award-winning exhibition, Fractured Land Collective proudly present their second major show, Truth or Folly, opening on 17th March 2026 at Wycombe Museum.
Truth or Folly is an art exhibition and events programme responding to the mysterious, half-known, and often overlooked stories embedded within the historic site of Wycombe Museum, Castle Hill House, and the surrounding area. Drawing on local social histories, folklore, and imagined narratives, the Collective uncovers hidden stories blending fact with fiction to create alternative timelines and speculative myths.
The exhibition features newly commissioned works by Fractured Land Collective artists Lian Chan, Ellie Laycock, Jane Peacock, Ellie Reid, and Caroline Thomson, spanning painting, sculpture, print, photography, and sonic art. The artists have taken inspiration from historic local sites ranging from Saxon burial grounds, The Hellfire Caves, ancient woodlands and the eccentric folly of Castle Hill House alongside myths of giants, ghosts, and fictitious UFO landings. Truth or Folly invites visitors to see familiar places anew, as sites alive with memory, mystery, and untold stories.
A curated programme of workshops, talks, and film screenings will run throughout the exhibition, with visitor-created work becoming part of the evolving display. The first event will be a flash fiction workshop with multi-award-winning author, Claire Fuller, on 29th March from 1 to 3pm, with many other creative events to follow over the year – all details via the Museum website.
Museum Director Roz Currie says “The museum’s home is shrouded in mystery. We’re thrilled to be hosting Fractured Land Collective and to see how their art interprets the fascinating stories of Castle Hill House. The Truth or Folly exhibition and its fantastic programme of events is a wonderful addition for Wycombe Museum for 2026”.
