A Narrow Earthly Existence (2026)
Atop a mound once stood a folly where five sisters make a magical discovery. It opens their world to time and place. Lifting the veil on the future, they question the truths of their lives and the paths not taken as they journey into adulthood.
In 1890, a proposal was made to transform Castle Hill House and its grounds — the current site of Wycombe Museum — into a pleasure garden for the communities of High Wycombe. Lian Chan blends fact and fiction to create a visual narrative about the five Peace sisters who lived there at that time. Inspired by the site, the museum collection and the Peace family album, the series includes photographic prints, sculpture and an installation that conjure the past and future.
